I am a compere/MC of an event called The Posh Club. The Posh Club is a glamorous performance and social club for older people (mainly over 60’s) held once a month in five locations across London and the South East. There are also pop-up ones opening in new locations.
Each three-and-a-half hour event is styled as a tongue-in-cheek ‘posh’ 1940’s afternoon tea with three professional live show turns, volunteer waiters in black ties, vintage crockery and an in-house DJ.
It is a glamorous event for over 100 participants a week, held in the heart of the community in elegantly transformed church halls and other grass roots spaces. It emphasises dressing up, regular access to live performance, social connectivity and intergenerational volunteering.
